It’s very much difficult to find a better music teacher. Most important thing is the one who want to learn music he can’t identify who is better teacher. Suppose I will search for a teacher but I don’t know the reference that what qualities will be there in a music teacher because I also very weak in this matter. Whatever they will say I follow. So, please follow or listen to then who sings really good then you will be able to understand the music and also good guru. listen to the most popular singers or ustads like rashid khan, Ajoy chakraborty, Pandit jasraj, Bhimsen joshi, Kaushiki chakraborty etc then the good music will be inter there in your mind, then start finding the music teacher. Listening good music and good Indian classical singers will help you to understand the music and how rich it is, and also how you will have to sing and how effort you have to give for learn singing, this also help you to decide a better music teacher. Listen good music and try to sing in correct way or do riyaz as your teacher say.
If you are beginner
If you are beginner then practice Basic lessons regularly, after 6 months you can see improvement in you.
A proper singing practice or riyaz very important for music, if any teacher say to riyaz in sweet voice then stay away from him or her, if someone says that he will teach you Bollywood singing then stay away, If you will practice in open voice then it will help you to improve singing. After learn Indian classical singing you will be able to sing any type of song, so son’t worry about singing Just learn and practice.

सही गुरु मिलना बहुत मुश्किल है, और सबसे बरी बात तो ये है की कौन गुरु सही है और कौन ग़लत है ! जैसे अगर मैं गुरु की तलाश करना शुरू करूँ तो मुझे ये ही नही पता होगा की एक अच्छे गुरु में क्या क्या होना चाहिए, क्योंकि पहले हम खुद ही अनारी होते हैं ! तो अगर आप अच्छे लोगो को सुनना शुरू करेंगे तो आपको म्यूज़िक के बारे मे गायकी के बारे मे ज्ञान होना शुरू हो जाएगा तो इससे आपको हेल्प मिलेगी अच्छी गायकी समझने में !
जैसे : पंडित अजय चक्रवर्ती, कौशीकी चक्रवर्ती, रशीद ख़ान, पंडित जसराज, पंडित राजन साजन मिश्रा, पंडित भिमसेन जोशी, उस्ताद बड़े गुलाम अली ख़ान, उस्ताद आमिर ख़ान, गिरिजा देवी इत्यादि, इनलोगो की गायकी सुनने से आपको संगीत समझने मेअसानी होगी और गुरु ढूँढने मे भी आसानी होगी, जो गुरु इनके रास्ते पर चल रहे होंगे जो इनकी तरह गा रहे होंगे वो सही रास्ता बताएँगे आपको !
और जो गुरु आपको लालच देकर सीखना चाहेंगे, लालच का मतलब है, जो आपको अगर कहेंगे की वो आपको बहुत अच्छा सिंगर बना देंगे या फिल्मी गीत तुरंत सीखा देंगे या इस तरह की बहुत सारी बातें वाहा से तोड़ा डोर ही रहिए तो बहुत अच्छा है !
रियाज़ हमेशा ही
“रियाज़ हमेशा ही खुली आवाज़ मे करनी चाहिए, शुरू मे दिक्कत आएँगी ऐसा लगेगा की आप चिल्ला रहे हैं लेकिन कुच्छ महीनो के बाद वो खुद ही ठीक हो जाएगा”
कुछ गुरु ऐसा भी कहेंगे की रियाज़ कभी गला खोल के या चिल्ला कर मत करना नही तो गला खराब हो जाएगा, या मीठी आवाज़ में रियाज़ करने के लिए जो गुरु कहे तो वैसे गुरु लोगो से दूर ही रहिए तो आपके लिए अच्छा होगा।
